999999999999999999999999999 This site has been here almost a year now, and I'm happy to say I've gotten many good comments on it. I thought now would be a good time to do a little remodeling of the old homestead. I've learned a little more HTML, have a little better idea of what I want to accomplish with this site, and feel a bit more comfortable talking to you.
My apologies that I can't have music here as I once did. It seems the crescendo player I had installed at one point really screwed up the works, and now, anytime I so much as think about embedding a midi, I get a pot up window telling me the program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. I know of no cure for that short of reinstalling Windows from scratch, and that would delete a lot of stuff I have saved on my hard drive. The hassle just isn't worth it. Just pretend that you hear the music to "Imagine" playing, okay? (see lyrics below)

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Of course there are a great many sites where you can learn stuff, get feebies, etc., and I plan to eventually have links to many of them. But I hope to have a site where you can do those things AND feel at home enough to stay and browse through everything that is here.
My primary purpose in having this site is to offer, through writing, links, rings, etc., compelling reasons for ridding yourself of dogmas. There are a great many of them plaguing society, including religious, political and social dogmas. I realize, of course, that by their very nature, these topics will not be of huge interest to the majority of people. Indeed, if they were, we probably wuldn't be in the mess we're in in the first place. But for those few of us who have the time, inclination, ability, and desire to help create a better world than the one we currently have, I think you will find interesting information here that you may not have encountered before.
I have come to believe that atheism and anarchy are two of the most powerful ideas humans have conceived, and that these two things together are an absolute must if there is ever to be a genuine civilization among humans. I hope to eventually have a large amount of information here explaining what these things mean and their potential. Please use the navigation bar at the top of each page to easily move through the whole site (and feel free to grab the code for your own page if you like -- if you want it but don't know how, check my links page for some excellent HTML tutorials that will show you).

FREEDOM

When I became convinced that the universe is natural--that all the ghosts and gods are myths, there entered into my brain, into my soul, into every drop of my blood, the sense, the feeling, the joy of freedom. The walls of my prison crumbled and fell, the dungeon was flooded with light, and all the bolts and bars and manacles became dust. I was no longer a servant, a serf, or a slave. There was for me no master in all the wide world--not even in infinite space.
I was free--free to think, to express my thoughts--free to live to my own ideal--free to live for myself and those I loved--free to use all my faculties, all my senses--free to spread imagination's wings--free to investigate, to guess and dream and hope--free to judge and determine for myself--free to reject all ignorant and cruel creeds, all the "inspired" books that savages have produced, and all the barbarous legends of the past--free from sanctified mistakes and holy lies--free from the fear of eternal pain--free from the winged creatures of the night--free from devils, ghosts, and gods.
For the first time I was free.
There were no prohibited places in all the realms of thought--no air, no space, where fancy could not spread her painted wings--no chains for my limbs--no lashes for my back--no fires for my flesh--no master's frown or threat--no following in another's steps--no need to bow, or cringe, or crawl or utter lying words. I was free. I stood erect and fearlessly, joyously faced all words.
And then my heart was filled with gratitude, with thankfulness, and went out in love to all the heroes, the thinkers who gave their lives for the liberty of hand and brain--for the freedom of labor and thought--to those who fell on the fierce fields of war, to those who died in dungeons bound in chains--to those by fire consumed--to all the wise, the good, the brave of every land, whose thoughts and deeds have given freedom to the sons of men.
And then I vowed to grasp the torch that they had held, and hold it high,
THAT LIGHT MIGHT CONQUER DARKNESS STILL!
Robert Green Ingersoll
(1833-1899)

....................
Here's a torch for you too, friend. Will you help dispel the darkness of ignorance and superstition? At the dawn of a new millennium, will you help drag our world, at last, out of its period of Dark Ages?
